It's really not any worse than the "fad" stuff some of us used to inflict on the Car Crafting world:

 "Econoline" and tube axle front ends, bias-belted N50s hanging half-way out of the fenders on "reverse" wheels, "cowboy raked front ends,  cheap side pipes that ended about a foot in front of the rear tires, "Grump lumps"  and towering F5000 scoops on stock smoggers, AIR SHOCKS a/k/a Hi-Jackers ('nuf said), six-inch spring shackles (I can't leave out the MoPar and Ford folks),  raspy 2" Glas-packs or "header muffs," fake 4-71s, velocity stacks poking through hacked-up hoods (or NO HOOD!), 8-tracks blaring through cheap Sparkomatic 6x9s (or Jensen Coaxals), Vinyl tops, psychodelic paint jobs,  Starsky stripes and fake Motion stripes, heartbeat graphics on the windows, Windshield banners and huge fender decals announcing the brand or model of car (which generally started cracking and peeling in no time at all), rectangular headlamps cobbled into '60s muscle cars, no-name chrome engine dress-up kits that immediately started rusting, cheap hood pins, fake fur on the package tray, flip-up sunroofs, fiberglass running boards, add-on fender "flares," mud flaps, plastic "drag style" bucket seats, little lights on rear control arms or dangling from traction bars, giant ladder bars on 14-second small block cars, lettering our girl friend's name on "her" door, rear quarter windows covered up with decals for stuff we bought or wanted people to think we bought, cheap "racing" mirrors,  plastic-rimmed "mini" steering wheels,  Calvin peeing/pooping/shooting-the-bird stickers,  t-shirts with "pithy" sayings like "Injection is nice but I'd . . . (you know)," pop-out sunroofs (that always leak), red or apple-green window tint, mirrorized window tint,  cheap imported tachs hose-clamped to the steering column and a "triple gauge" set hanging under the dash, more than one licence plate on either end of the car,  barefoot gas pedals, the "Do you value your life more than I this car?" sticker, bass-boat-style metal flake paint jobs . . . .
